Shelley Davidow

Shelley Davidow is an award-winning international author. Writing across genres, her 45 books include the internationally acclaimed memoirs Shadow Sisters (University of Queensland Press, 2018), and Whisperings in the Blood (University of Queensland Press, 2016), the creative writing textbook Playing with Words (Palgrave Macmillan 2016, co-authored with Paul Williams), as well as Fail Brilliantly and Raising Stress-Proof Kids (Familius, 2017; 2015).

Shelley’s novel, The Girl with the Violin, was published in 2024 by HQ/HarperCollins and is a powerful love story about one woman’s quest for identity and healing. Her dual narrative memoir, Runaways, was written with Shaimaa Khalil and published by Ultimo Press in 2022. Runaways tells a story of an improbable female friendship between two women from either ends of Africa. Traversing issues of race and religion, family and friendship, this is a poetic, timely and vitally important story told by two women whose friendship transcends historical, social, geographical and temporal boundaries.
