After qualifying as a nurse, Annie abandoned that option to work in Hollywood – principally as PA for Margot Kidder (Lois Lane) and rewriting scripts for Superman II, III & IV and The Shell Game. She was also ‘loaned out’ as a writer to other television programs. She’s renovated a restaurant in France, painted murals on three continents, interviewed nannies for the Royal Midwife in London and made TV adverts in Australia. Then motherhood happened.
Annie is now a writer based in West Australia. Her non-fiction book Cray Tales was shortlisted for the WA Premier’s Literary Award and became the basis of a documentary. She’s had short stories published in anthologies and written feature articles for a variety of newspapers. She’s won scholarships to two Rhom Literary Agency retreats in Paris, completed a year-long course with Faber Academy London, been mentored by Kristina Olsson and awarded two Arts Council Grants.
Annie’s debut novel, Audrey’s Gone AWOL, a funny and beautifully observed story about losing yourself, finding yourself, and discovering joy, will be published by Ultimo Press in 2024.
